The Difference Between Unique and Copied Content
June 9, 2008 3:15 pm ArticlesA copywriter’s life is never easy. Their work is seldom appreciated. Nevertheless, everyone knows that it is well-written content that brings in the traffic from search engines.
One of the things that makes copywriting so difficult today is that there is a lot of content already available online. While this does not seem like it would present a real challenge, the truth is that this makes it difficult for a good copywriter to stand out amongst the crowd because there are a lot of bad copywriters out there who will simply copy and paste content together and then sell it as their own. Of course, these so called copywriters will do this in such a way as to ensure that they will not get into legal trouble for plagiarism. Nevertheless, this will then leave a bad taste in the mouths of those who are purchasing content because once a real copywriter quotes them a price they will be turned off by the thought that they will be paying all of this money for them to cut and paste content onto their web site. Whenever a copywriter encounters such a person, the only thing that they can do is tell themselves that the person really does not want unique, relevant or quality work and that they merely want anything copied onto their web site.
You may think that this is an exaggeration or an exception but it is not. Take a moment to look at the copywriting jobs that are listed on web sites such as Elance or Guru. While these web sites have lots of jobs, the majority of them are only paying around $5 per page or 1 cent per word. There are even jobs listed offering $1.50 for a 400 word article.
Thankfully there are also web sites who are doing things the way that they should be done. These web sites are in search of true copywriters who are able to produce quality content without copying and pasting. They want unique content that is not plagiarized. Working with such web sites is a pleasurable experience for copywriters because the copywriter knows that this web site owner values their work. Unfortunately there are not a lot of jobs like this available though. This is because most web sites do not carry about quality but what they do care about is quantity. In the end, it is these web sites that are going to get themselves into trouble with Google.
